Becca's Music Studio

Becca Gillham

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

Becca Gillham was born and raised in Montgomery, AL, but has lived in the Huntsville area for the past 12 years.  Becca’s life has been filled with music and she began to play the piano and sing at 5 years old.  It was then that a passion was ignited and a teacher was born.  A graduate of Samford University, Becca has taught piano, voice and music theory at her home studio, church and Whitesburg Christian Academy for 12 years.  She has been teaching private music lessons in piano, voice and music theory since 2010.   Sharing her love for music through teaching is one of Becca’s passions, with her other greatest passions being her love for the Lord, her husband Brad, her family and friends.

Becca has extensive performance experience as a talented vocalist and pianist.  She has performed as a valued and talented member of the Samford ACapella Choir, the Lake Junaluska Singers, the Glen Draper Singers and the Whitesburg Baptist Sanctuary Choir.  Her piano and vocal performances and venues have included personal recitals; private events; churches ranging in size from small country churches to large churches with more than 2000 in attendance; public and private school events and performances; and, in 2017, Becca had the unique opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

She enjoys private teaching because it allows her to customize sessions for each student’s individual needs and provides the flexibility to explore various musical genres and playing styles.  She works equally well with students of all ages and at all skill levels, from beginning to advanced skill levels.

When asked to describe what music means to her, Becca answered

“Music is ...a way, beyond words, to express my heart, my gratitude and my love to the Lord.

...a mode of freedom voiced through which peace, healing, and encouragement can be made manifest.

... therapy that brings both rest and energy to my body."

“I play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes the music.”  (Johann Sebastian Bach)
